50 Lies

Your Pain Does Not Make You a Burden

September 12, 20251 min read

You’ve learned to hide your pain.
To downplay it. Smile through it.
To say “it’s nothing” when it’s everything.

Why?
Because somewhere in you, there’s a quiet fear:
If I struggle too much, I’ll become too much.

Maybe you grew up in a place where care was inconsistent.
Where expressing pain brought punishment or withdrawal.
Where strength was praised and struggle was silenced.

So you adapted.
You became “the strong one.”
You learned to suffer in silence.

But the truth is this:

You are not less lovable when you hurt.
You are not too much.
You are not a burden.

You are a person.
And people need people.

Your vulnerability is not an inconvenience—it’s an invitation.
To be met. Held. Known.

Ask yourself:

  • Who taught me that my pain was unwelcome?

  • What would it feel like to receive care without apology?

  • What relationships in my life invite me to show up as I am?

You don’t have to perform strength.
You’re allowed to be cared for.
You’re allowed to be real.
